Department Profile

The Department of Mathematics has been in existence since the inception of this college in 1967. Department started its journey with B. A. (Pass) and papers in Commerce and Economics. With the sincere and dedicated efforts of its founder teachers. The Department started B. Sc. (Gen) in 1980 and B. Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics in 1992. The department aims at providing opportunities for students to explore areas of mathematics outside the classroom and to enhance inter-student communication and co-operation. The goal is to enable students to express mathematical ideas more creatively and to develop their talent whilst making them confident, capable and responsible human beings.

Scope of the Subject

A graduate student in B. Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics from the college can pursue academic courses like B. Ed. and P.G. Courses like M. Sc. or M.S., followed by M. Phil. or Ph.D. Thus they can find a promising career in the field of Research or Teaching. They can also take up Professional Courses like MCA or MBA. MCA is the best option for the B. Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics graduates who wish to pursue their career in IT sector and MBA for those who wish to pursue their career in Management field. The students can also explore areas like actuarial sciences, banking, civil services etc.

The Department of Mathematics begins the commencement of the new academic session for fourth-year undergraduate students. This phase emphasizes advanced coursework, research engagement, and preparation for higher studies and careers, with active participation from both students and faculty to foster a dynamic learning environment.
