Preparation of College Self Study Report

The rigorous and introspective process of preparing the college self-study report started in the summer of 2014. The entire college community has been impacted by it in one way or the other. The process of preparing this self-study report was truly deliberative and transparent. It was flagged off with the distribution of the faculty data sheet, wherein each faculty member described in details her/his professional trajectory, record of publications, contributions and achievements.  

All the Teachers-In-Charge and members of each department and Coordinators/Conveners/Staff- Advisors of various co-curricular units/societies/ associations/clubs etc. were requested to prepare their respective portfolio/profile. These data sheets have been a vital source of information about academic, curricular & co-curricular activities held in the College.

The steering committee had a series of meetings with all the committees that oversee the various aspects of the working of the college. Faculty members who represented the various committees were requested to prepare brief accounts of their working. In addition, faculty advisors to various student societies were requested to associate themselves with the process of preparing this self-study report, by recording the activities of their respective societies.

The Non-teaching staffs of Administration, Accounts, Laboratories and Library were requested to adopt Soft skill practices, Up gradation of skills, proper upkeep and Automation of Documentation. All the wings of the college, be it administration or accounts, laboratories or the library have been a part of this report and its preparation. Each and every department, through the teacher-in-charge, had an opportunity to introspect, record its activities and achievements and envision its future through SWOC analysis. This did necessitate many rounds of meetings at the level of each department. Inter-departmental Academic Audit encouraged reading each other’s accounts critically. Faculty members were associated with collecting data, analyzing data, preparing statistical tables and charts, devising and administering questionnaires, sharing photographs, information, writing, printing, editing and endless rounds of revision.

A specially conceptualized survey and feedback was administered to students, teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, and alumnae through internal circulation and over the internet.

NAAC Peer Team Visit

NAAC PEER TEAM VISIT : 8-10 SEPTEMBER 2016

A peer team was constituted by NAAC to visit the institution and validate the Self-Study report. The peer team consisting of the Chairperson, Prof. Anand Vardhan Sharma, (Pro Vice Chancellor Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya); Member Coordinator, Prof. Y. Prameela Devi, (Professor of Zoology, Kakatiya University); and Member, Dr. M. Thavamani, (Director, Commerce Programme, Perriyar Maniammai University, Thanjavur). They visited the College from 8th to 10th September, 2016.

The team had meetings with the Principal and Steering Committee. The Peer Team during its visit assessed and evaluated curricular, teaching and learning activities, research work, extension, infrastructure and learning facilities, and other aspects of the college. They held interactions with IQAC, all departments, teaching staff, non-teaching staff, students, Governing Body, alumnae, parents and visited all academic facilities, administrative and support services. Cultural events, showcase of skills and cultural clubs was also presented for their review and perusal. They checked documentary evidence, prepared their report and held an exit meeting with faculty members. They handed over its report to the Principal in its exit meeting on 10th September, 2016.

The Governing Body, Principal, external experts on IQAC, the entire teaching and non-teaching staff, students, parents, alumnae, everyone cooperated for smooth sailing during the visit. This entire process has enabled the Kalindi College to assess our capabilities as an institution.
