Department of History, Kalindi College celeberated 72th Independence Day on August 13, 2018 in the college premises. The occasion was graced by Shri. Jai Prakash Agrawal, an eminent politician and Mr. Deepak Marwah, Chairman Governing Body. They were given guard of honour by the students of NCC of the college. The program started with the hoisting of the Tricolor flag followed by the singing of the National Anthem and ‘Sare Jahan Se Achchha’ by the students from the Department of Music. Dr. Anula Maurya and Mr. Deepak Marwah, Principal and Chairman Governing Body respectively, honoured the Chief Guest with planter and shawl. The principal in her welcome address requested the students to take pride in being an Indian and also encouraged them to feel responsible towards Nation. The Chairman in his speech mentioned the feeling of joy and happiness when he came back to India. He advocated the students to believe in ‘Equality of all caste, religions and creed,’ so that eradication of apartheid became possible. Our esteemed guest who happened to be a renowned politician had expressed happiness in being invited and requested the students to light the lamp of positivity, promise, love and affection in mind. He gave a very brief anecdote of how Mahatma Gandhi motivated people to fight against British hegemony and paved the path for Freedom. Sui generis to this anecdote he talked about the lives of other young freedom fighters who left their families for the love of the country. The celebration was concluded with the certificate distribution to those students who won in the ‘Poster and Collage Making’ competition organized by the Department of History on August 10, 2018.

Republic Day in India is celebrated every year with great pride on 26th of January to honour the Constitution of India as, it came into force in 1950. The Department organised the 70th Republic Day of India on 25th January 2019 with gaiety and patriotic fervor. The ceremony took place in the presence of Chief Guest Prof. Sangit Ragi, Department of Political Science, University of Delhi Principal Dr. Anula Maurya, faculty members, NCC Cadets and students. Chairman of the College Shri Deepak Marwah also graced the function with his presence. On the occasion, Prof. Ragi hoisted the National Flag followed by the beautiful rendition of some old and new patriotic songs by the faculty members and students of Department of Music. Prof. Ragi motivated the students with his inspiring words. He also discussed the issues that the nation is currently facing and urged everyone to unite against them. Principal Ma’am added that India is a country of different religions, customs and traditional languages known for its cultural diversity throughout the world. India is an epitome of unity in diversity based on democracy and tolerance. The hour- long ceremony culminated with the singing of National Anthem.

The two day annual inter-college cultural festival ‘Lehren’ of Kalindi College, University of Delhi was held during 19th and 20th February, 2019. The fest was inaugurated by honourable Minister of State for Medical & Health, Rajasthan, Prof. Subhash Garg in presence of Principal, Dr. (Ms.) Anula Maurya, with a host of cultural and co-curricular activities planned for two days. The theme for this year’s Lehren was “Gulistan: Har Gul Ek Farishta” to Glorify the beauty of Pluralism through various cultural events.

 The two day cultural extravaganza witnessed enthusiastic participation from various colleges and Universities in and around Delhi. In overall 31 competitive events were held in which more than 1250 students from approx. 35 different undergraduate colleges participated.  The students’ showcased extraordinary talent in competitions like Photography, Rangoli making, Street play, Group dance, Group song, Ad-mag Show and Fashion Show amongst many others.  Dr. (Ms.) Anula Maurya, Principal, Kalindi College, appreciated the efforts of the teaching, non-teaching staff, Students’ Union , Lehren Convenor  Ms. Nidhi Arora and co-convener Dr. Rakhee Chauhan, Students’ Union staff advisors  Dr. Meena Charanda and Shanuja Beri  for successful conduct of Lehren-2019. 
The fashion show on the first day was judged by Ex-Roadies Mr. Milan Verma and Fashion Blogger Ms. Saloni Sehra. Along with the students, the teachers and non-teaching staff of Kalindi College were not far behind in showcasing their talents through their respective Talent shows on the second day of the event. Under Song Category among teachers – Dr. Manjulata, Dr. Baljeet Kaur and Dr. Rinku bagged Ist, IInd and Consolation Prizes respectively whereas under dance Category among teachers – Dr. Nivedita Giri and Mr. Gaurav Kumar bagged Ist and IInd Prizes respectively. Among Non-Teaching Staff, Mr. Ram Lakhan and Mr. Avdesh stood Ist and IInd under singing competition category whereas Mr. Sanjay Kumar and Ms. Sonu Sharma stood Ist and IInd under dance competition category. The festival reached its crescendo as the students grooved to the tunes of the popular pop singer Shael during Star Night, which culminated the two day extravaganza.

The general orientation program for 1st year students of Kalindi College was held on July 19, 2018, in Sangam Parisar at 9.30 a.m. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ms Monika Bharadwaj graced the occasion as the Chief Guest along with Chairman, College Governing Body, Mr. Deepak Marwah, Treasurer, Mr Ankush Narang, Principal, Dr Anula Maurya.
The program started with welcome of the guests, presentation of college song, classical dance and lighting of the inaugural lamp. Address to the students and parents by the Principal, Chairman, Treasurer and Chief Guest was followed by yoga presentation. Conveners of various college committees such as Academic, Anti-Ragging, Proctoral, ICC, Timetable, Library, Remedial, Coaching, Scholarship, WDC, Gandhi Study Circle, Ambedkar Study Circle, Equal Opportunity Cell, Student‘s Union, Lehren, Add-on Courses, Medical and Counselling  and Alumni Association  briefed the gathering about the functioning and activities of their committees. Light refreshments were served. Vote of thanks was given by the convener. 

Established in 1967, Kalindi College completed its fifty years in 2017. To celebrate the glorious five decades of the College, it was decided that the Academic Session 2016-17 would be the GOLDEN JUBILEE YEAR. A multitude of activities were planned starting from the day College reopened after the summer break.

  • A hawan was performed by Acharya Kailash, Department of Sanskrit on 20th July 2016 in the TRI Block of the College. It was attended by the present and retired teaching and non-teaching staff, students, and alumni. Multi-Faith Prayers and Mangal Geet followed. After that Mr. Deepak Marwah, Chairman Governing Body, blessed the students and on gratulated all those present. After that, the college Principal Dr.Anula Maurya addressed the gathering. A LOGO specially designed for Golden Jubilee by Dr.Amit Kumar, Chemistry Department was released. Henceforth, this Logo was used for all the activities that took place during the year. In the month of February 2017, all the Departments and Societies of the College organised a host of activities.

  • In the Golden Jubilee Year, the Departments of Geography, Political Science, Hindi and Sanskrit organised International Conferences.

  • On 19th and 20th January a two-day International Seminar on “Glocalization” and Federal Governance in India: Understanding the Emerging Issues.” by the Political Science Department. Sponsored by ICSSR, it was organized by Ms. Manila Narzary and Dr. Ruchi Tyagi. The Department of Geography organized a Two Day International Conference on "Spatial Decision Support Syste Ms.for United Nations Sustainable Development Goals" on 1st and 2nd February 2017. The Department of Sanskrit organized a two -day International Seminar in collaboration with Delhi Sanskrit Academy on 2nd and 3rd March. The topic was “Sanskrit Literature and Human Values”. The convenor of the seminar was Dr. Harvinder Kaur, Assistant Professor, Sanskrit Department. A two-day (9th and 10 thMarch) International Conference was organized by the Hindi Department on “Social Media Mein Sahitya Ka Badalta Swaroop”. The Convenor was Dr. Aarti, Assistant Professor and Co-convenor was Ms. Vibha Thakur, Assistant Professor, both from Hindi Department.

  • Four National Conferences and many Seminars and Workshops were organised. UniversityGrant Commission sponsored National Seminar on “ Recent Developments in Mathematics (NSRDM-2017)” was organised by the Department of Mathematics on January 12th and 13th, 2017 by Convenor Ms.Anshu Chotani. The Department of Sanskrit organized a two-day University Grants Commission sponsored National Seminar on 10-11 August, 2016. The topic of the Seminar was “Theatre andDramaturgy in Modern Perspective. On 3rd and 4th February the Science Departments organized a Department of Science & Technology Sponsored two day National Seminar on "A Paradigm Shift Towards Empowerment Of Women (NSSC-2017)”with Dr. Pushpa Bindal (Teacher-in-Charge, Department of Physics) as its Convener. The Seminar was jointly organized by the Departments of Physics, Zoology, Computer Science, Chemistry and Botany. Sponsored by All India Journalist Welfare Association, the Department of Journalism organized a National Seminar on “Women’s Rights andResponsibilities in Progressive India: A Discourse” on 23rd and 24th March.

  • The 70th Golden Jubilee Independence Day was celebrated by History Department on 13th August, 2016 with our esteemed Principal Dr. Anula Maurya hoisting the National Flag.On 26th August, 2016 the Golden Jubilee Flag was hoisted and an exhibition “Kalindi Pradaakshina : Chitron Ke Dwara Apni Dr. ishti Se” organised by Dr.Saroj Dutta of History Department,highlighting fifty years of development of the college through, picture gallery, 49 models and a documentary was inaugurated in the presence of the Governing Body members , IQAC members, and the college teaching and non-teaching staff and students.

  • NSS organized a workshop on Road Safety.

  • On 13th February, the Hindi Department organized an inter-college “Yuva Kavi Pratiyogita” in which 35 students of different Colleges of Delhi University participated.

  • The games included in the tournament were Ball Badminton, Futsal,Kabbaddi, Table Tennis, Volley Ball, Yoga and for the divyangas, Chess and Carrom and Sports Quiz. Mr. Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister, Delhi was the Chief Guest and Mr. Bipin Tiwari, co-ordinator, EOC,Delhi University, the Guest of Honour.

  • The Chemistry Department celebrated the Golden Jubilee of the College by from 13th to 16th February, Dr.Sunita Sharma and Ms. Sudha Pandey of Department of Physical Education organized Golden Jubilee Invitational Inter-College Tournament. organizing Inter-College Quiz and Oral Paper Presentation by students on 15th February under the supervision of Dr. Aprajita Gaur and Dr. Swati Aggarwal.

  • An Inter-College Fest DIMENZIE: A NEW DIMENSION on 15th February was organized by the Department of Physics.Competitions were organized on “Science in Everyday Life”, “Waste to Wealth”, “Circuit Mania” and “Science Fiction Writing”.

  • The Computer Science department organized an Inter-College fest TECHNOBUZZ on 15thFebruary under the convenorship of Ms. Shalini Sharma. The Chief Guest was Dr. Sunil Kumar Mutto Department of Computer Science, Delhi University.

  • The Department of Botany organized CYATHIUM-2017 on 15th February. The invited uests were Prof. P.L. Uniyal and Dr. Eklavya Chouhan from the Department of Botany, Delhi University. They lectured on “Herbarium an Effective Tool for Conservation and Preservation” and “Frequently Asked Questions in Genetics” respectively.

  • On 16th February, COMQUER, the society of Commerce department organized BIZMESH2016 -17. Mr. Randhir Singh (Vice President–GE Capital and SBI Card) was the Guest Speaker for the day. He delivered a lecture on the topic “Demonetization–Issues and Challenges in India”.

  • History Department organized a one day Seminar on “Archaeology: Construction and Reconstruction of the Past “on 21st February. Dr. B.R. Mani, (Director General, National Museum, New Delhi) delivered the Keynote Address. Other distinguished speakers were Dr. S.B. Ota, Joint Director General Archaeology ASI, Dr. Joseph Manuel, Deputy Superintendent, ASI, Dr. V.K.Jain and Ms. Sulochana Radhakrishanan from Delhi University.

  • On 22nd February, the Department of English under the convenorship of Dr.Chaity Das and Monica Zutshi and co-convenorship of SurabhiJayati Purty and Shipra Gupta organized a Film Festival on disability. It was followed by a workshop on 23rd. Ms. Shalini Khanna, Hony. Secretary/Director, NAB India Centre for Blind Women and Disability Studies was the distinguished Chief Guest.

  • On 23rd February an Inter-College Maths Festival “Math-e-Magic17” was organized and the following activities took place -Mathematical Exposition (paper presentation), Emblazon (Mathematical Rangoli), Sudoku, and Treasure Hunt.

  • On 23rd February, the Swar Gunjan Society of Music Department celebrated VASANTOTSAVA. The Society invited “Shri Naad Sangeet Kendra” ,Mathura to perform “Braj Ke Rang Kalindi Ke Sang”. Ruchi Tailong, Shruti Sharma and her team of eleven artists performed a dance Dr. Ama recreating the traditional Holi played by Radha and Krishna with flowers in Braj.

  • On 25th February, Golden Jubilee Annual Sports Day and Alumni Meet was organized by the Physical Education Department and Alumni Society. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Mr. Yogeshwar Dutt, Olympic Wrestler and the Guest of honour was Mrs. Suman, Retd.Faculty of the Sports Department, Kalindi College.

  • On 27th and 28th the Zoology Department hosted two events “ECOTONIA” and a health camp. ECOTONIA with the core theme of Environment had various events like Eco-Picasa, War of Words, Minute to Win, Rupantarana and Zoo-Charades. Prof. Andrew M.Lynn, JNU delivered a lecture on the Importance of Computational Biology in Science. Health camp was organized in collaboration with NSS and Anti-Tobacco Committee of the College.

  • The Department of Geography organised a Geo-Fest in the Seminar Room on 27th February. The various activities conducted during the Fest included a lecture on ‘Recent Trends in Geospatial Technologies’ by Mr. Chandramohan Adhikari, Senior Manager, ESRI India Technologies Ltd. Noida, Photography Competition on the theme: Biodiversity in College Campus, Slogan writing on Clean India (Swachh Bharat) and a Quiz Contest onGeneral Geography of India.

  • The Department of Sanskrit organized an Inter-College Sanskrit Natak Competition under the convenorship of Dr. Manju Lata on 28th February. Prof. Sharda Sharma, H.O.D. (Sanskrit Department), University of Delhi was the Chief Guest. Dr.Satyapal Singh, Associate Professor (Sanskrit Department), Delhi University was the guest of Honour.

  • On 28th February, the Economics Department organized a National Level Paper Presentation Competition “Battle of Young Minds” on the topic “Are We Ready for Digital India” and on 1st March a lecture was delivered by Mr .Deepak Goel, Founder and CEO Karma Circles on the topic “Life Lessons”. This was followed by a multitude of events like Battle of Entrepreneurs, Connectonomics, Magazine cover Designing, Photography and Ad Mania.

  • On 28th February, the SC/ST cell of the College conducted a workshop along with the Department of Adult Continuing Education and Extension (DU) on the rights.

 The closing ceremony of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations will be on 18 April, 2017 marks the beginning of a new era in the development of the College and may Kalindi College touches New Heights in years to Come.
